This is how 2 referees rated Katie:
Hello! I'm a recent Queen's University graduate, having completed my Master of Applied Science in biomechanical engineering. I have now started working for a med-tech startup in Toronto and am looking forward to getting to know the city.
While in university I had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a variety of courses. One of my roles was to act as a project manager for a team of first year engineering students where I helped to keep them focused and on task, while also being able to clarify any assignment questions and provide feedback on their work. I also assisted in running hands-on lab courses within the mechanical engineering department and facilitated workshops for high school students participating in on campus STEM programs.
My approach to tutoring is to be flexible and adaptive. Each student learns in a different manner and it is important to find strategies that fit their individual needs. The tutor-student relationship should also be collaborative as I am there to support the student in their study process with the ultimate goal of helping them to become an independent learner.
