Personal Description:

My approach as an English tutor depends on four words: observation, translation, patience, and encouragement. First, I observe my student to discover their specific areas of opportunity. Next, I translate what I've discovered into terms that the student can understand so we're on the same page. I patiently answer any questions they have, as most students don't respond well to stressful environments. Finally, I encourage them to reach for more whenever possible.

Tutoring Experience:

As an older sibling in a homeschooled family, I helped my younger siblings with all of their academic subjects as a kid. I have also taught ESL courses in Japan and Spain to students between the ages of 10-18 and taught Spanish to my coworkers at a Fortune 500 company.

Tutoring Approach:

I encourage my students to set SMART goals, meaning that what they want to achieve must be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. This way, it's easier to track their progress and motivate them to strive for more.
