Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Joshua. I am an English tutor and believe that education and knowledge are the most important pursuits in human history. I am ready to help on your educational journey whether you need help with grammar, syntax, high school English, American literature, writing, AP English Language and Composition, or SAT or college level English.

Tutoring Experience:

Reading is an important skill, yet many students struggle with it. In my experience, reading together with students and helping make connections by explaining symbolism and metaphors is generally effective. I have a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing.

Tutoring Approach:

Engagement is the key to learning. I always do my best to find topics and activities that engage my students, even if it means reshaping the topic. Confidence is essential too. If a student struggles with reading, I read the end of the story, so they become invested in putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
