Personal Description:
This past year I have been taking a travel sabbatical from work and volunteering at schools around the world. With the global health pandemic, I was forced to return to Calgary a little earlier than I had planned. I am an experienced classroom teacher, most recently completing three years at an Alberta accredited school in Bermuda, where I taught students from Pre-K to Grade 12.
I have my Master's degree in Education in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary.
Tutoring Experience:
I am a teacher with 14 years of teaching experience, mostly at the Elementary and Junior High levels. I have been a homeroom teacher for Grade 4-6 students for 10 years. In those years I have taught all subjects, but I especially enjoy teaching Math.
Tutoring Approach:
It's important to find out where students are at with their skills, but also their attitude toward the subjects. Similar to teaching, there must be a solid relationship developed so that the students feel comfortable and motivated.
With the current health regulations, tutoring will happen virtually using a video conferencing program like Zoom until it's safe to meet face to face.
