Personal Description:

I am a biology tutor for high school and college-level students. I'm a compassionate and patient tutor and I enjoy breaking complicated concepts down so they are simple to understand.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned my undergraduate degree in philosophy and my graduate degree in ecology. I am currently pursuing a certification to teach high school biology. I have extensive academic and research experience in the field.

Tutoring Approach:

Despite spending many years in the field of biology I recognize it can be quite difficult. It requires extensive memorization and a comprehensive understanding of complex concepts. I believe the key to that is to make the subject interesting and to break it down into more manageable pieces. During our first session, I like to identify the specific academic concerns of the student so that they can be broken down into targeted goals. In addition to these goals, I believe it's also important to give students the techniques they need to study effectively on their own for ongoing academic success.
