Information About Jinesh

Regina tutor

Personal Description:

Graduate student in computer science at the University of Regina.
Undergraduate computer engineer from Mumbai, India.

In my spare time, I look to play snooker, piano, virtual reality and listen to music. Love a good game of frisbee.

Easy going and very good at accommodating requests, I understand if someone doesn't feel like doing math after a hectic day.
I have personally always been a bright student. I possess eye for attention and detail. Strong believer of foundations. If the basic concept is clear, problems are a breeze.

Most importantly, I love teaching but don't have an education degree so can't teach in schools. I'd love to teach elementary, middle school and high school math and computer programming. Hence I like to tutor instead. I am satisfied by the expression on someone's face when they get a concept that they thought would never get.

Also, one doesn't hate math, they just never had a good teacher!

I have a job, I want to tutor for my satisfaction.

Tutoring Experience:

Tutor for undergraduate Math courses at the university since February 2018.

Taught computer programming at Ignite Adult Learning Center in Sept 2018.

Always been an unofficial tutor to friends and younger brother.

Tutoring Approach:

Association with real world examples. For someone good at sports, I relate substitution in algebra to substitution in sports and try to draw similarities between the two.

Making sure to list down all steps while explaining to avoid confusion.

Clear and good communication skills aid in conveying a concept better.

Reliance on practice over memory. Tend to solve multiple examples to gain confidence.

Patience is important with young learners and they should be given time to understand the concept at their pace.

Prefer teaching kids/young adults in their homes as that's where they are the most comfortable. This boosts learning and grasping of a concept.
