Personal Description:

Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my Profile and having an interest in me teaching you my beautiful native language. I am a German native speaker with a Master of Arts in Screenplay writing and extensive German tutoring experience. I grew up bilingual with a Canadian Mother and German Father, went to the European school and studied/worked in Germany, England and Canada, so I am fluent in both German and English.

Tutoring Experience:

So far I have had the great pleasure of teaching German for 7+ years to clients of all ages including adults, teenagers and children - from beginner to advanced to clients with different goals and needs. E.g. I taught German to a known Novelist, who needed German for her latest book taking place in German or a former French teacher with the goal to spend more time in Germany. Next to being a German Tutor I am also a passionate screenplay writer with extensive writing, teaching and consulting experience in a wide range of writing formats and disciplines. I worked with clients and students within a one-on one basis as well as group development settings, incorporating their vision while helping improve their projects in a constructive and marketable way. I taught many different private Screenwriting Classes.

Tutoring Approach:

Clients enjoy my practical, creative and easy approach and so far all of them had fun, what I believe learning should be about. Especially if it is after work or school. I do believe in the importance to learn the theoretical side any language, but I find that it is even more important to actually be able to speak a language. This is where my teaching focus lies, being able to communicate in important day-to-day life situations like going grocery shopping or ordering food in a restaurant. I tend to include situations like these in my teaching sessions. I also take pride in bringing all of my clients closer to the German culture, incorporating the German way of life and traditions into my tutoring sessions. As I grew up bilingual it makes learning German way easier and comprehensive. Know that I always come prepared, use my own teaching material or ideas tailored to each individual client and their goals, needs, skill levels, etc. Having said that I am also happy to use teaching material a client is already accustomed to.
