Personal Description:
Hi my name is Janelle,
I'm currently an undergrad in my 3rd year at SFU studying environmental geography with a certificate in Geographic Information Systems. I've completed math up to Calculus 1 in university and am very familiar with math concepts within the high school and elementary school curriculum. Outside of school I enjoy hiking and travelling during my time off.
Tutoring Experience:
Over the past year I've tutored students from grade 11 and below. Before that I have worked on assisting my younger siblings in math. I am very good at working with children as I have spent many years volunteering with the city of Burnaby parks and recreation programs.
Tutoring Approach:
I am very understanding that many children and teens have different learning styles therefore I try to adapt the tutoring session to best fit their needs. I do encourage either the parent or the student to provide some photos of the homework or assignment before the tutoring session. This allows me to prepare some examples similar to the homework to allocate time wisely during the tutoring session.
* Currently with the coronavirus pandemic I will not be doing face to face tutoring but I will be continuing with online tutoring sessions .
