Personal Description:

I am comfortable tutoring several different subjects, including elementary math, middle school math, homework help, and arithmetic. I love to help students who are struggling to keep up with their peers. I focus on why the student is struggling and then address the problem directly. That "Aha!" moment when something finally clicks is the best feeling a math tutor can get.

Tutoring Experience:

I have approximately five-and-a-half years of teaching experience as a substitute teacher (including two stints as a long-term substitute) working with all grades K-8. I also have private tutoring experience and have worked in a resource room assisting students with learning differences. I hold a multiple subjects teaching credential that allows me to teach any subject grades K-6.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that you can use a student's interests outside of the classroom to teach key concepts. For example, baseball statistics are a great way to introduce decimals and fractions, while football can be used to explain yards.
