Personal Description:

I am a second-year student at Wilfrid Laurier University and I am enrolled in Financial Mathematics (BA). Math has always been my strong suit in high school and elementary school as I really like solving puzzles and finding the right answer. I am home for the summer and with COVID-19 I thought I could help students with online tutoring as their classes have moved online. The last part of my semester was online as well and I am familiar with how hard the change can be on certain students. I have internet access and Skype and I am free to help almost anytime!

Tutoring Experience:

I was a peer tutor for math in high school and I really enjoyed helping the other students. I liked seeing when concepts and ideas really 'clicked' for them and they started to understand the examples I provided them. It was a good feeling when the students were able to find the solution on their own after helping them.

Tutoring Approach:

I have had some bad teachers and professors so I know how important it is to have a good teacher. I have observed many qualities from my past educators and I would like to bring their best qualities forward. I would prepare for each tutoring session with each student differently depending on what they need - whether it be more practice and examples or to better explain course content and theories. I consider myself to be very approachable and I would work hard so that the student I was working with felt very comfortable with me. I have had experiences where I felt belittled by a professor and I would never want anyone I was helping to feel poorly about themselves. There are absolutely no dumb questions.
