Personal Description:

Hi! My name's Freddie, and I'm an English teacher based in Toronto, Canada. I love teaching and working with students, and enjoy reading and writing when I have time. I love nature and animals, and I practise yoga and meditation every day.

Tutoring Experience:

I've been an ESL/EAP teacher for over thirty years, teaching a variety of English courses, including General English, Exam preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge exams like FCE, CAE, and CPE). I am also an IELTS examiner and greatly experienced in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. I have written and published several ESL/EAP titles.

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on the courses I teach, I approach my classes differently. In general English courses, my approach is mostly communicative, but I also believe that a good understanding of the structure of the language is a great help, especially in higher levels. My classes are mostly student-oriented: I usually spend a little time teaching the new material and then engage my students in a variety of exercises to practise and master the new material. I'm a great believer in carefully-organized lessons because they can lead to more in-depth learning.
