Personal Description:

With a strong academic background in mechanical and environmental engineering and years of teaching experience, I possess the knowledge and expertise necessary to guide students effectively. I believe that creating a positive and welcoming learning environment is essential for students to feel comfortable and motivated.
By maintaining a high standard of professionalism, I aim to instill trust in my students, letting them know that they are in capable hands. I am dedicated to their academic growth and success, and I am committed to supporting them throughout their learning journey.
I want my students to feel assured that they are working with a competent and caring tutor who is invested in their progress and well-being.

Tutoring Experience:

For the past three years, I have taught complex engineering concepts (Fluid Mechanics and Dynamics) to first-year and second-year undergraduate student classes ranging from 30 – 60 students to help them build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that they can apply in advanced courses. In addition, I have also evaluated students’ understanding and application of course material and marked assignments and lab reports with constructive feedback to support learning.
Additionally, for the past two years, I have had the privilege of working as a UBC Disability Resource Centre invigilator. This role has allowed me to interact closely with individuals with disabilities and develop a profound understanding of their experiences and needs. I have made a conscious effort to build connections with disabled individuals, striving to comprehend and embrace their differences. Through this journey, I have come to recognize that although they may face certain limitations, they possess remarkable abilities and strengths in other aspects. It has been a profound learning experience for me, and I am grateful for the lessons I have gained from these extraordinary individuals.
Furthermore, I volunteered as a math and literature educator for Imam Ali’s Popular Student Relief Society, where I played an active role in educating marginalized children, a group of children that is confined to the lower peripheral edge of the society who are largely born into poverty and income disparity.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, my approach is centered around fostering impactful relationships with children and youth, empowering them to discover their potential. For the past three years, I have taught complex engineering concepts to undergraduate students, helping them develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills for advanced courses. I employ various teaching methodologies and techniques, including interactive discussions and real-world examples to make the subject matter engaging and relatable.
A typical lesson plan involves introducing key concepts, facilitating group discussions, and providing practical applications to enhance understanding. I prioritize student engagement and encourage active participation to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I have experience evaluating student progress, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their learning journey.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my deep understanding of the unique needs and experiences of individuals with disabilities. Through my role as a Disability Resource Centre invigilator, I have developed a profound appreciation for their abilities and strengths. This insight enables me to create inclusive and accommodating learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
While my tutoring experience has primarily focused on undergraduate students, I have also volunteered as a math and literature educator for marginalized children. This experience has allowed me to work with children facing socio-economic challenges, empowering them through education and offering opportunities for growth.
Overall, my tutoring approach emphasizes personalized attention, interactive learning, and inclusivity, with the aim of nurturing the potential of children and youth from diverse backgrounds.
