Personal Description:

Hello my name is Evan and I have a strong passion for teaching and tutoring students in many subjects such as history, English, geography and French. I really enjoy working with students to help them improve and achieve their goals in their studies. I really enjoy providing students with a fun and enriching experience in learning about many different topics. I have a history degree from Bishop's University and I have a degree in teaching English as a second language. I am fluently bilingual in French and English and I have a strong ability to speak in other languages as well. My favorite hobbies are woodworking, hiking, kayaking and swimming.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching English in Indonesia where I taught many forms of English grammar to all different age groups of students. I provided them with excellent quality instruction in improving their English language skills for many future possibilities. I have tutored students online with Varsity Tutors where I taught many different subjects such as history, geography and English. I have helped students write essays and study for exams where they have done exceedingly well. I have received a lot of positive reviews from students in making both sessions and classes very dynamic, fun and interesting.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very passionate about the subjects that I teach and I provide students with a fun experience in learning new information. I explain to students the full significance of many different topics and subjects in order to engage them. In teaching history I explain how historical events have impacted many countries and cultures in the present. I also compare past historical events with that of present day events to give students a clear understanding of the topic. I teach many aspects of the relation between history and geography and how geography has impacted historical events. I explain information of many topics by giving examples and by being very interactive with students about many different subjects

In teaching all subjects I would start each session with a head warmer to introduce and get students very involved in learning a new topic. In teaching history and geography, I use artefacts and images to get students interested in many different topics. In teaching students English and French I create many different games for students to have fun in practicing speaking, writing, listening and reading. I help students write essays by complimenting them on their previous work and then offering some suggestions and feedback on how they can improve and write stronger sentences to clearly illustrate their topic. I end each session with an activity where students get to use their acquired knowledge of the topic as part of a review.

This approach to tutoring has worked very well with students in learning new information and in doing well in their essays, assignments and exams. I believe in providing students with a very fun and enriching experience where they can improve in their abilities and learn great knowledge.
