Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Eva, and I'm from Toronto. I'm currently a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University which is a top 10 university in the United States, double majoring in Neuroscience and Economics with minors in History and Psychology. I'm passionate about learning and helping others succeed, and I'm on a pre-med track with the goal of becoming a doctor, specifically a pediatric neurosurgeon. I love breaking down complex topics into simple, approachable concepts and creating a supportive, engaging learning environment for my students.

Tutoring Experience:

In high school, I volunteered at a domestic abuse shelter for two years, where I taught a range of subjects including biology, chemistry, physics, and math. I also tutored middle school students in math and science. Currently, I volunteer with an organization in Baltimore, providing academic and emotional support to local high school students through homework help and engaging activities. In addition, I work as a teaching assistant for a Russian language course at Johns Hopkins. As the eldest of four younger sisters, ages 3 to 11, I also bring plenty of informal teaching and mentoring experience from home.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is rooted in patience, encouragement, and adaptability. I believe that every student learns differently, so my goal is to meet each individual where they are and tailor my explanations to their unique needs. I focus on creating a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I break down complex topics into manageable steps, use real-life examples when possible, and regularly check in to ensure understanding. Most importantly, I aim to build confidence in the subject, not just better grades, by helping students develop strong learning habits and a growth mindset.
