Personal Description:

Hi! I'm Emma. In my spare time, I love to read, bake, and study new languages-I am currently learning Spanish, Italian, and Russian. I am passionate about history and I love travelling-I have visited almost fifty countries. I recently graduated from McGill with my degree in History and French and am currently attending the University of Ottawa, studying Education (Secondary History and French). I spent a year abroad studying at Sciences Po in France and have taught English in France, Italy, and Argentina. I absolutely love teaching and education in all forms.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a great deal of experience working with children and young adults of all ages. I have taught English as a second language at summer camps in France and Italy to children from the age of 6 to 16 for two years and have a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language through Theatre and Play. I also have tutored students in grades 3-6 for two years as a volunteer in Montreal, helping with math, English, science and other homework. I also volunteered for two years at the McGill Essay Writing centre, helping other students improve their grammar, argumentation, and general essay writing skills. I am currently completing my Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Secondary Education History and French with an emphasis on Second Language Teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I realize that these times are incredibly uncertain and that many students need extra help and support. I am eager to help in any way that I can! I have worked with many students with a diverse range of abilities and understand the need to adapt lessons for the student. I strongly believe in making learning as fun as possible and emphasizing the relevancy of the subject matter. For me, the most important thing as a tutor is respect and understanding.
