Personal Description:

Dori is a supportive math tutor with years of experience & references. Dori has a passion for helping kids succeed. She has led struggling students rise to see A+'s, honour rolls, & university scholarships. Dori tutors Math for all grades, including university prep. She also provides general homework help up to Grade 10. Most of her students are in middle and high school. Dori is the founder of Miss Dori Tutoring.

Tutoring Experience:

By 2nd year of her Finance Degree, St. Mary's University in Halifax hired Dori to become an Official Tutor of the University for Math, Calculus, Finance, Intro to French, and Computer Applications. Following university, Dori led a successful 20-year corporate career in banking & investing.

Fun Fact: In 2014, Dori taught Ballroom Dance in elementary schools with Dancing Classrooms (showcased in the movies "Take the Lead" and "Mad Hot Ballroom")! She enjoyed working with kids so much that the following year, Dori returned to her passion of working 1:1 with students to inspire and tutor them to success. In 2016 she founded Miss Dori Tutoring.

Dori is Police and Vulnerable Sector certified to work with children, and has references from lots of happy parents and students alike.

Tutoring Approach:

Math can be fun when you think of it as a puzzle to be solved! Instead of simply demonstrating how to solve a problem, Dori asks prompting questions (like hints to a puzzle) to get students to see it for themselves. She often hears "That was actually fun!" from students who previously claimed they "hated math". Dori's goal is to inspire students and to help them think smarter.
