Information About David
Newmarket tutorPersonal Description:
I am currently a systems developer for Dynacare, a private healthcare laboratory for 4 years now. My work deals mostly with data transformation and the delivery of critical patient data through various public and private sector healthcare organizations and hospitals. I am also responsible for support and maintenance of important services that form the infrastructure for various healthcare networks, dealing with tasks such as debugging, server and cloud deployment devops tasks, analysis and transformation of medical data formats, and creating and documenting enterprise APIs.
Tutoring Experience:
I frequently help personal friends and co-workers with technologies that they are unfamiliar with. I have also had tutoring experience in art, so much of those soft skills transfer over to CS tutoring. I also go through a lot of pair-programming with other senior programmers at my workplace, and so I also understand the point of view of a student who's learning something new. A lot of the times I can identify with some struggles and ask the questions that many would ask in the same situation.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is always straight to the whiteboard. A lot of concepts cannot be understood just in the head alone. A great tutor is always one that can present high-level concepts in a way that the basic layman can understand. Another approach for those that are basic beginners is also to request control on teams, as that may save a lot of time to a newcomer who is overwhelmed with the basic UI of IDEs like Visual Studio.
