Personal Description:

I love teaching and helping students understand math concepts as a math tutor. I make an effort to explain them in a down-to-earth way. While I enjoy teaching in the classroom, I find that working with small groups of students or in a one-on-one setting allows the students to process the material more effectively and easily.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned my undergraduate degree in business marketing. I am an experienced certified teacher and I currently teach middle school math. I've also tutored high school students in algebra. Prior to pursuing a career in education, I was an officer in the military.

Tutoring Approach:

I find it is important to relate the concepts we are studying to real life. That is why I often spend the first session with a student getting to know them and telling them about myself. I utilize assessments to get a baseline understanding of where the student is. It is also useful for tracking progress over time and to help keep the student motivated.
