Personal Description:

My name is Dana, I am a elementary school teacher. I love to read and write and spend time outside! I love inquiry based learning experiences, and gaining knowledge from the world around me. I have spent time working with children from a young age, as well as have specialized in working with students with exceptionalities for the last 10 years. My experiences in teaching students with various exceptionalities has allowed me to really understand inclusionary teaching practices, and how they can benefit each and every child!

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently a special education teacher, teaching in an elementary school. I have taught/worked with all grades from kindergarten to grade six, and I am familiar with the curriculum goals and learning expectations for each grade. As previously mentioned, I have a skillset in working with students with exceptionalities, which has helped me with differentiating learning instructions for all students in ways that best fit their needs and learning styles!

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring and teaching is very hands on and inquiry based. I like to plan meaningful learning experiences that help children to really grasp the concepts we are working on. I utilize a child's interests to help plan my lessons and activities, so that each child is engaged and feels connected to the lesson. I like to use lots of manipulatives and resources to help give learning a realistic and life-like feel. I like to utilize many different ways to help solidify a concept for a child, so I can see which way the child learns best!
