Grand Forks tutorPersonal Description:
Hi there! I come from the cultural minority group in rural British Columbia, the Doukhobors, and I received my MA (2016) and Ph.D. (2021) in political science from The University of Chicago. I received numerous awards and a fully funded Ph.D. (+$150,000).
I also hold a BA (Honours) in political science from The University of British Columbia.
I graduated at the top of my class in my English as a Second Language (ESL) certification course.
In my down time, I am writing and performing comedy :)
Tutoring Experience:
I was a professor at the University of Chicago from 2021-2023, and prior to that taught for three years as a graduate student.
In 2013-2014, I taught English in Russia and online to children ages 3-12.
In 2014-15, I also worked to assist children with autism with their educational needs as a Behavioural Interventionist.
Tutoring Approach:
I see it as my job to support active learning in students. This means that I work to activate their own critical thinking, reading, writing and communication skills. I strive to be approachable while setting high standards.
