Personal Description:

I have over 23 years of experience teaching / tutoring Science to High School students. I studied Chemistry and Physics at University level, but I can also help with Biology / Astronomy / Earth Science and some Math too. I am passionate about science in general, and very keen to help anyone who wants to improve their knowledge and understanding of the subject. I know how daunting it can be when you are challenged by something, but help is at hand! I will coach you through your difficulties and get your confidence up. I can help with homework, assignments and assessment reviews.

Tutoring Experience:

23 years as a high school science teacher in the UK and Canada.
5 years as Head of Science Department.
Very experienced 1:1 tutor - tutoring all ages and abilities for over 20 years

Tutoring Approach:

Initially, through discussion / verbal questioning to establish prior knowledge and find out where the students' understanding falls down. Then through direct instruction, using as many everyday examples as possible, develop the students knowledge and understanding in a particular area. I will use a variety of additional strategies such as power point and video clip to amplify learning points. I also use assessment questions to determine how far the student has moved forward.
I will tailor the tutoring sessions according to the needs of the student.
