This is how a referee rated Christina:
I am a 4th year student at Simon Fraser University working towards a Geography major and becoming an elementary school teacher. I was born and raised in Vancouver/ Burnaby. I knew I loved working with young people when I first started to teach young children how to skate.
I have been tutoring English to a gr.1 student and in 2018 I started volunteering for a kindergarten split grade 1 class working with individuals or multiple students at a time. I have volunteered in several elementary schools, working with many different grades (K, gr.1, 4, 5, and 6). As a volunteer, I work closely with students in different age groups helping with reading, writing, and math. I have had experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, and those who have English as a second language.
I will be following closely with what the student is learning in the classroom. Whether that is worksheets, assignments, books, or textbooks in class, my goal is to help students fully understand the material first. I will not be assigning additional homework unless specifically requested. Once the student fully understands what he/she/they are learning in school, we can work towards getting ahead in the class. One of my main goals for tutoring is to ensure students enjoy what they are learning. I will adjust to the learning needs of every student and encourage a fun learning environment.
