Personal Description:

I am a senior with a passion to help students better understand the basics in math. My strength is my questioning technique. I try to understand the underlying question/problems each student has, and then help the student solve his/her problem. Very often, the problem facing the student is not with the questioning they are currently trying to answer but with early concepts that they did not master. My goal is to make math fun, and help each student solve their own question/problem.

Tutoring Experience:

I was a high school math teacher many years ago. Most of my career was spent in IT Management. Most recently I have been teaching high performing students in a serious after school program. I have recently tutored students in grades 4 through 8 based on the Ontario curriculum.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to assess a students capabilities based upon the questions they ask me, and their response to the questions I ask them. My goal is to understand the underlying deficiencies, and to help the students learn or re-learn those key skills and concepts. When that is accomplished, I work with each student to solve their current questions/problems. I provide students with tools to help them learn, study, and organize their thoughts and school work. In doing all this, I try to get each student excited about math, and want to learn and improve. Math is a lot like sports, you feel very good about yourself with small (and big) successes.I have received very positive reviews from parents and students on my approach to teaching.
