Personal Description:

I'm from Zimbabwe, but I completed my secondary school education in Botswana. Upon completion of high-school, I received the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship from the University of Toronto.

I am a first year student at Mississauga campus, studying a Double Major in Computer Science & Applied Statistics. In secondary school, I studied the British curriculum of education - Cambridge IGCSE & A-Levels.

For my A-Levels, I took Physics, Computer Science & Mathematics, where I achieved 3A* and was Top in The Country (Botswana) for Computer Science. For my IGCSEs, I took 10 subjects and attained 9A* and 1A. I was also the best across all my subjects at school. I have 50+ hours of teaching high-school (IGCSE & A-Level) Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

The help I sought from my teachers and peers at school helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses. I used this feedback to create study guides that contain a mixture of notes, questions and past papers. I am able to pinpoint the relevant aspects of each specification and I feel that I have a solid understanding of what examiners are looking for. I am aware of the overwhelming number of resources available and I feel that I am able to successfully identify which resources are relevant and how to use them properly. Finally, I have developed exam techniques for each subject that I know will ensure top marks!

The support I received, as well as my personal revision methods, have shaped the way I teach. I first work to identify a student’s strengths and areas of improvement with a baseline test or a set of sample questions; I use these to adapt my teaching methods to how they feel they learn best. No two students learn in the same way- I am able to provide custom worksheets, resources, notes, subject knowledge and encouragement to ensure they are confident in their learning. All my students will benefit from up-to-date exam guidance, helping tackle every specification point in the new and updated curriculum. Furthermore, I regularly check up on my student’s progress, and ensure they are armed with a robust exam technique, giving them the best possible chance at success!
