Personal Description:

I am a first year medical student with a passion for teaching math and science. I obtained my Bachelors degree at McMaster University in the Honours Life Sciences program, completing a wide range of math and science courses. I finished my high school math and science courses with a 90+ average and graduated with distinction from McMaster University. I want to empower students to perform to the best of their abilities and achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Experience:

I have multiple years of tutoring experience. I tutored English for 2 years, as part of the English second language (ESL) program, to a new refugee looking to improve his English skills. I have also been a teachers assistant (TA) for a Life Science research methodology course during my time at McMaster University. This job entailed running a tutorial section for 25 second year life science students, teaching them the course content and preparing them for midterms and final exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to go through the topics that my students are struggling with systematically, starting with basic examples and working up to more complex problems. I like to give my students some readings and practice problems to complete before each session in order to highlight the specific areas where they are having issues. I like to then go through these areas in depth, ensuring that students have full understanding of the topics by the end of the session. I'm a strong believer that everyone learns optimally in their own way, and I like to formulate an individualized plan for each of my students that works best for them
