Personal Description:

I am a retired Secondary English- IB History- Social Science and ESL Teacher with 30 years of experience. I have been tutoring students throughout my career and am currently working as a tutor working with many new Canadians who are adjusting to the Ontario Curriculum both at the Elementary and Secondary level. I am a active person who enjoys many outdoor activities as well as adding to my own knowledge through books and documentaries.

Tutoring Experience:

I have about 30 years experience working at YRDSB as a Secondary teacher. During my career, I taught English, ESL and all Social Sciences.I obtained my IB History training in the last 6 years of my career and helped to develop the program at out school. I was involved in many activities at the school such as the Debate team. Chess club, School Newspaper and Reach for the Top. I also helped coach the Ski, Cross Country and Track teams. I have tutored for many years both privately and with some companies. I enjoy working with students of all ages to develop confidence in their reading and writing skills. More recently. I have been working with IB students and Senior students in constructing and researching essays. As mentioned, I am currently working with many new Canadians looking to improve their English language skills and have success in their courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a very friendly and comfortable teaching and learning environment with my students. I endeavour to tailor all lessons to maximize results and understand and meet the goals of students. I work well both on the online platform and in person and build strong learning and teaching experiences.
