Personal Description:

Are you looking for an editor? A proofreader? A wordsmith? Someone to help you shape an argument? Or just someone to help you through a challenging class or assignment? Then you've come to the right place!

I have a strong background in the Humanities, specializing in English Literature, Philosophy and Film Studies. I am widely read in all three subjects, and am in the process of completing a Master's in Film Studies. I have also run a university-level seminar in Film Studies.

I also have years of experience as a tutor of young children -- primarily with remedial reading, writing and speaking skills.

Contact me--and let's get started!

Current:
-Editor with the Ontario government (17 years)
-Part-time Master's student
-Dissertation/thesis editing
-Academic book editor and proofreader

Past:
-University-level instructor (teaching assistant)
-ESL teacher
-Tutor to young children, university-level students and adult learners

Tutoring Experience:

-Three years of ESL instruction, one on one and in small groups.
-One year as an instructor of a first-year university seminar (introduction to film)
-17 years as an academic tutor. I have tutored college/university students, young children, as well as adult learners
-5 years of experience guiding adolescents through the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

Tutoring Approach:

All students are different, each with his or her unique needs and special abilities. So, as a tutor, my first step is to become a student -- of you! What are your strengths and weaknesses? What interests you? What is your learning style? How can I best help?

I then build a program of study based on this understanding. We'll set goals together, establish important targets and milestones, and measure our progress as we go.

A tutoring session with me is fun, lively -- and rewarding! I create supportive, caring and friendly learning environments in which you'll overcome obstacles, challenge yourself and thrive as a student.
