Personal Description:

Hello my name is Angelo . I have an Hons. B.A. in History and International Relations from the University of Toronto and a Certificate in Public Administration from Ryerson University. I developed my passion for history, politics, and policy from my high school teachers. My research specialties are Canadian history, American history, modern European history (19th-21st century), and memory studies. I have been involved in politics for years, having worked as an assistant for a Canadian Member of Parliament. In high school, I successfully completed the AP American history and AP Modern History exams, so I know the curriculum for those programs. I have experience writing essays, research papers, and policy briefings and I can help you improve your writing. Personally, I am a Raptors fan, I love films, and I'm always at concerts. I'm happy to take on any students who need help in history, politics, policy, social science (including International Relations and current affairs), and essay writing.

Tutoring Experience:

After graduating from high school, my teachers asked me to tutor other students taking the AP history exams. I also mentored younger university students in the history and International Relations programs while I was a senior upper year student.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in empowering students to learn for themselves. I have an extensive knowledge base about Canadian, American, and modern European history, and I can lecture about that. But true learning happens through seminar-style discussions, critical questioning, and self-research. I encourage students to talk about what they understand and to ask critical questions. I will ask important questions to them that will have students thinking about gaps in history and the academic literature. Through these discussions, students will discover what issues are important to them and they will develop their own research questions for their assignment papers. I can also help with research, navigating libraries, reading academic literature, looking at archival material, critically analyze primary sources, and write better essays to become better communicators.
