Personal Description:

The study of language and literature is undertaken for a variety of reasons and the process is different for each student. Regardless of the reason for the journey or the learning style of the student, I have discovered the most effective motivational strategy for each is to tailor the learning experience to the individual student.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned my undergraduate degree in Spanish and my graduate degree in Spanish as well. I also earned my Ph.D. in philosophy and Spanish, and I have more than twenty years of experience as a language facilitator for students of all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

As a Portuguese tutor, I believe it is important to determine the linguistic level of the student and then use learning materials that are appropriate and meaningful to that student while establishing and maintaining clear expectations and academic goals. I use different instructional approaches as necessary until the student gains confidence in their linguistic abilities.
