Information About Alon
This is how 2 referees rated Alon:
In addition to my direct classroom teaching and tutoring experience, I have also spent time employed in both the property/casualty insurance and banking industries. I have seen my tutoring students benefit from my workplace experiences when sessions turn to discussing career options, corporate culture, and professional communication skills.
I am a passionate runner and athlete. I have run 4 marathons. My experience as a competitive athlete has helped me understand the unique challenges high-performance athletes have when balancing their studies and their athletic excellence. I have a unique understanding of other athletes and am proficient at helping them balance their athletic and academic lives.
I am a Certified Ontario Teacher and a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) with accreditation in Mathematics and Politics (grades 7-12). I have direct teaching/tutoring experience in several subjects and many skill development areas. Over the last year or so, my practice has shifted leading me to focus on working with students primarily in Mathematics. While I typically work with students from grade 8 and up, I do occasionally work with younger students.
I am a mature teacher, coach and mentor. I am skilled at relating to students; my approach is to build real confidence by mastering concepts.
My greatest talent, based on years of feedback, is the degree to which I care about the students I work with. All of my clients value my accomplishments with their child. My aim is to not solely assist in improving your child's grades; my holistic approach focuses on wellness and health, creating a pleasurable learning environment and connecting young people to the futures they are passionate about. My guiding principle in working with a young person is to do everything I can to build their "real" confidence.
With respect to mathematics, my approach is to develop confidence one concept at a time and to use many different approaches to help students make sense of difficult concepts. I am a strong believer in developing number sense and at putting the calculator away, when practical.
I have many 5 star reviews here and on my website - I will share the url with you once we've exchanged contact information.

Alon makes a difference!
Thank you for the wonderful review. Your son is a pleasure to work with.
We hired Alon to help our grade 5 son in keeping up with his studies and he's been bringing home all the A's.
Having been a teacher in the past, Alon knows how to teach. It is one thing to know a subject very well, but to deliver the information on a appropriate age level so that the student can comprehend, is the difficult part… Alon delivers the message.
I would recommend Alon to anyone who needs help or just wants to maintain their grade point average.
Thank you for your generous and comprehensive review. I look forward to continuing to work with your son as he progresses through his academic journey.
