Personal Description:

I've been a chemical engineer and a part-time teacher of chemistry, algebra, and geometry at the high school level. I enjoy sharing my science, engineering, and math skills with others, but it took me until junior high to engage with math thanks to the help of an excellent teacher. As a math tutor, I want to help young people embrace math the same way my 7th-grade math teacher did for me.

Tutoring Experience:

I spent over 35 years working as a chemical engineer, a job that required me to use my math skills on a daily basis. I took 2 years of calculus as well as differential equations, but I like tutoring algebra the best because of how much I've used it throughout my life.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to figure out where a student stands at the beginning of our sessions and impart the ability to learn independently. I share tactics such as repetition, explanation, and my own enthusiasm to help students be more successful and engage in learning.
