Personal Description:
For me, tutoring is very rewarding, because I am able to pass on the knowledge to other people of how things work. Recognizing that I can make positive contributions to other people's lives and opportunities inspires me but also makes me aware of the great responsibility that I have been entrusted with.
Tutoring Experience:
I received my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Philosophy, and I have taught many subjects including chemistry, biology, and ethics. I am a math tutor, so I can tutor elementary math and pre-algebra. As a lifelong learner myself, I find great joy in education from the perspective of the student and do what I can to impart that joy onto others.
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring approach is to make whatever gains I can on a daily basis. Teaching at times is about inches. If you make incremental gains, then over time they add up, and it might not be glamorous but you know you are making a difference and making progress. Rather than focus on rote memorization, I like to help students understand why a particular thing works in the manner it does.
