Personal Description:

Hi, I'm a 22-year-old Mauritian student in Canada. I graduated from one of the best high schools in my country, Sir Abdool Raman Osman State College, in 2017. During my high school years, I was able to get a good grasp of English and French languages, physical education, and accounting until the Cambridge O-Levels. For Cambridge A and AS Levels, I switched to the scientific field where I did Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as my main subjects and French and General Paper as my subsidiary subjects. Being bilingual, I then decided to pursue my tertiary studies in Ottawa. I'm currently a second year Civil Engineering student at Carleton University.

Tutoring Experience:

Before moving to Canada, I got the opportunity to teach French and Maths to some early high school students in my neighborhood. It was a great experience. The more I tutored the more I also got to teach myself how to teach better.

Tutoring Approach:

For French, I will, initially, dictate a small paragraph that the student has to write and I'll account for the level of his grammar and spelling. Taking this into consideration, I will provide him/her with practice exercises depending on his/her weaknesses since practice will make perfect. However, it's not just about practicing, it's an effective practice that makes perfect, so I'll give insight to the student as to how to memorize, practice and avoid repeating the same mistakes.
For Maths, any student must be able to get a very clear understanding of any topic from scratch. The student needs to know why things are the way they are. Once the student masters the basics, the rest only gets easier with practice. At first, I will pick specific questions for him/her to solve but will afterward make him/her answer simultaneous questions to broaden his/her thinking skills.
