Personal Description:

I graduated with a Bsc. in Biochemistry from UBC. While I am knowledgeable in the sciences such as Biology and Chemistry, I am also passionate about English and literature as well as essay writing.

I have also learned French after graduating and can communicate fluently with native speakers, however, my strengths with this language are more in reading comprehension and writing.

Tutoring Experience:

I have helped fellow classmates with coursework, aided homeschooled individuals working on difficult assignments, as well as tutored my younger siblings.

I have also been regularly tutoring high school students taking sciences as well as helping them prepare for standardized tests such as SAT, PSAT, and ACT.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out what the student has trouble with first and then find out what it is they already know before moving forward in teaching. Understanding what a person knows and doesn't know, makes it easier to build a more solid foundation for them to learn and retain what they have learned.

I also strive to look into finding out how a student learns best, such as whether they are visual or active learners for example. I can then adjust my teaching methods accordingly to ensure better results.
