Personal Description:
I’m a 33 year old kiwi science, chemistry and biology teacher who has moved to the northern beaches in February 2017 after some time off travelling, and deciding to settle in Sydney.
I love the beach, cycling, running, yoga and of course science and teaching.
Tuition Experience:
I worked at two of the top academic schools in Zealand for 6 and a half years. I have been teaching science and Chemistry (prelim and HSC) here in NSW for 3 years. Altogether have over 10 years teaching experience and am currently employed at a top school in the northern beaches. My other experience is teaching Cambridge, New Zealand and NSW Science and Chemistry as well as about 7 years experience in home private tutoring.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that a key to success for students is getting them motivated and believing they can do it.
I like to start by some means of formative assessment to determine their level of understanding and build on it step by step, so students feel success and are able to apply their increasing knowledge to relevant questions based on their science curriculum.
Generally like to work with students for 1.5-2 hours at a time to cover a substantial amount of content and leave students with work to complete before the next session.
Happy to help with exam style study or with depth studies / projects.
Have a wide range of resources and a solid understanding of the level of knowledge required at each level.
I’m able to clearly and effectively communicate science and chemistry content in a fun and relevant way, and help students with study tools and application of their learning.
