Personal Description:

I am a certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). I have a rich background in education research from the University of Western Ontario and hold an MA Arts in Educational Studies with a focus on child/youth psychopathology. I have helped many elementary, secondary, and university-level students get Level 4s and 90% averages in their problem courses. My biggest priority is always to help my students feel confident and motivated.

My strong understanding of the Ontario curriculum, and have diverse teaching and coaching support for students of all ages, including university and college. I create nurturing and safe learning environments for students to develop their concentration, learning skills, and information retention.

Tutoring Experience:

I am passionate about helping students reach their fullest potential. I devote time working and volunteering in traditional and nontraditional education settings. As part of my teacher career, I won the F.C. Biehl Memorial Award for Excellence in English Education and have rich experience teaching successful classes in English, Literature, elementary Mathematics, Careers/Civics, Graduate Research Methods, and Creative Writing to Grade 4s to 12s, undergraduate, and graduate (masters and PhD) students. I have also been an independent educational consultant for various university faculties of education and school district boards.

I am confident I can motivate the shyest or most disorganized of students to increase their course average by 10 to 20 percent! That's the difference between a Level 3 and 4, or the 90 percent needed for University acceptance.

Tutoring Approach:

My priority it to help students succeed!
1. I create engaging and safe, virtual/online environments for my students to understand the value of hard work and the importance of making mistakes to get better.

2. I share effective organizational tools and learning resources with students and their families.

3. I use techniques that suit auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learners.

4. I keep parents up-to-date and provide them with helpful tips for their child's success.
