I'm a complete beginner at the piano at the age of 75, and I'm only 3 lessons in. Sarah started with really detailed instructions about hand positions and is rigorous in keeping me to them, but I appreciate the attention as I know that starting with good habits is important. She is a good judge of character and has realised that I need to enjoy a tune to practise it well, so she has found me tunes that I like - and that she likes too, because she genuinely seems to enjoy the work we do together. She is extremely patient and attentive and always encouraging. I feel that I am making good progress and am glad I am learning from her.
