Personal Description:

BBC Introducing Classical Artist - Yume is a Japanese violinist currently living in
London. Recently she has been appearing live on BBC Radio 3 In Tune on numerous
occasions and has performed in major international venues, such as the Wigmore Hall,
Royal Festival Hall, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Suntory Hall Tokyo and Forbidden City
Hall Beijing.

Yume is an alumni at the Yehudi Menuhin School and University of Arts and Music in Graz
Austria, where she studied with Lutsia Ibragimova and Boris Kuschnir. Yume completed her
Bachelor of Music, Masters of Performance and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of
Music, London (RCM) with Mark Messenger and Alina Ibragimova on an ABRSM full
scholarship. During her time at the RCM, Yume won the 2014 and 2018 Violin Competition
and 2015 Concerto Competition and 2017 Concerto Competition. In 2021, she was selected
as a City Music Foundation Artist.

Yume performs regularly as soloist and has appeared alongside orchestras such as the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra, Hague Philharmonic
Orchestra, Singapore National Youth Orchestra, Kingston Chamber Orchestra, Royal
College of Music Philharmonic and Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, Yume
performed Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Maxim Vengerov and performed in
the presence of HRH Prince of Wales. In 2020, Yume was set to make her BBC Proms
Debut alongside Nicola Benedetti playing Bach Double Concerto with the Les Violons du
Roy.

As well as performing solo, she is an avid chamber musician. She is a returning artist at the
Seiji Ozawa International Academy in Rolle, Switzerland since 2017.
Yume is a founding member of the London based Kleio Quartet who won First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Competition 2023. Yume has
collaborated artists such as –Eckart Runge, Christian Teztlaff, Alina Ibragimova, Doric Quartet, Castalian Quartet, Pamela Frank, Nicola Benedetti, Max Richter and Johnny Greenwood.

Yume plays on a Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, Paris 1868 which has been generously loaned to her by her generous sponsor, Masahiro Suzuki.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching at the Virtuosi Music Centre in Singapore since 2009, the people I have taught range from 3 year olds to 35 year olds. I can teach ABRSM, Suzuki Method and also prepare the students for exams and concerts. I also am a Violin Tutor for the Benedetti Foundation, working in schools all across UK.

I like to teach positively, trying to motivate the students to not only love but enjoy the music they are playing!
