Personal Description:

I have earned my Ph.D… Master and Bachelor degrees in Music Education, and am an open-minded educator who likes to continue learning new pedagogies, philosophies and technologies as needed for my teaching. Facilitating students’ musical learning and observing their musical growth are privileges to me. I recently completed the establishment of my music studio and am welcoming the old and new students to the brand new classroom!

Tutoring Experience:

I have served as a music educator and school teacher for 20 years, and also taught university courses in Taiwan and the US from 2008-2014. I have played the flute and piano since a young age and enjoyed giving private and group lesson to students. I also attended various ensembles and appreciate the cooperation with other musicians, including the University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra. These experiences have helped me serve as an effective teacher for students from various backgrounds and different age groups. I can guide you the preparations of exams through Grade 8, as well as playing casual music based on your interests. In addition, I host annual concerts and prepare pupils for music festivals. We explore interesting ways for making music together!

Tutoring Approach:

I use eclectic pedagogical approaches to teach music, and often found ways to engage students in music making. I value students' individual musical developments and encourage students to find the most suitable way for themselves when practicing the instrument. Learning music is not only about using your hands and eyes, but also about opening your ears and heart.

Teaching rate: £35/hr, £18/30 minutes, and £27/45 minutes. The first trial lesson is £15/30 minutes.
