Personal Description:
I am William, I’m an award-winning composer, music and theatre producer, and a performer. I have been commissioned to compose for The Royal Northern College of Music, VideoJam, The British Library, COMA, Tete-a-tete Opera festival as well as performances from leading performers such as James Gouley. I have also written and produced my own opera ‘Growth of the Silk’ which was performed at the Tete-a-tete Opera festival.
Outside of notated music I write and perform with the band Bethlehem Casuals, of which I am composer/director/manager. With the band I have had the privilege to perform live on BBC 6music, book and manage a European tour and oversee the production of two albums. I also write and perform as a solo artist under the name William K.z.
I have experience recording and producing my own albums, recording music to be performed live in theatres using Ableton Live, and editing recordings to be used in award-winning films collaborating with Woolgather Films.
I have a broad knowledge of musical genres having performed everything live from progressive rock to opera and back to folk. My aim is to ignite my students' creativity by meeting your own personal interests with lessons that benefit them personally and musician suggestions and will lead them on their own path of discovery.
Tutoring Experience:
In 2011 I started facilitating Rockschool group performances, coaching bands on learning songs, and how to perform together with the end goal of performing live. Within this, I gave students one on one tuition in both guitar and drums.
Since then I have facilitated musician session for organisations such as Brighter Sound, Lowry Theatre, and The Royal Northern College of Music
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to meet my student's interests and styles and help them build from there. Whether you want to writer opera and pop, I can help you find the knowledge that excited you and apply it to your work, from hardcore theory to fiding the cool chords that excite your ears we can work to improve the music you produce and the way you produce it.
If your end goal is to perform your own music then I can help you work on defining your onstage performance as well as the ins and out of booking gigs, apply for commissions, produce music for online and physical releases, and other intricacies of the music industry both pop and classical.
