Information About Will - Sheffield teacher

Personal Description:

Hi I'm Will, a musician originally from Manchester, but now working in and around Sheffield as a performer and educator since completing my Music and Philosophy degree at The University of Sheffield in 2019.

I have over 10 years of playing experience behind the drum kit, in which time I have been a part of performance, composition and recording projects both in Sheffield and across the UK. Most notably this has included appearances at: Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, London’s Pleasance Theatre, The International Music Festival in Brno, Y Not Festival, The Leadmill, Sheffield Jazz and Jazz at The Lescar.

Tutoring Experience:

As someone who is always trying to develop my own musicianship, I am constantly engaging with new techniques, methods and approaches to playing. Having had expert tuition from a range of different tutors, I feel I have gathered a well-rounded approach to tutoring and have a strong understanding on how to communicate effectively.

I have taught for over 3 years both privately and through local music schools to students of all ages (anywhere from 6 to 60 years old); this has included tutoring students who want to pursue grades, those who want to just be able to play their favourite songs, advanced learners or complete beginners who are unsure yet what they want.

I am willing to tutor at students' homes who are local, online or from my own studio space in Attercliffe.

Tutoring Approach:

As someone who remains thoroughly focused on developing my own ability, I am always engaging with new ideas and approaches to both playing drums and improving musicianship. This helps me to gather a very well-rounded understanding of drum performance, allowing my lessons to be tailored solely around the student and their goals. I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic individual that recognises that while no student is the same, every student has the potential to become a great drummer.
