Personal Description:
Hi there,
My name is Wayne and I've played guitar for over 20 years, am a registered guitar tutor with the London College of Music, University of West London and a Grade 8 electric guitarist. I've gigged extensively around London over the past 10 years and also play bass and drums, though primarily focus on guitar. I'm also fully DBS checked and a registered tutor with firsttutors.com. Previously I've taught in both primary and secondary schools.
I've been in many bands, some good, some bad, some ugly. Most recently I was the guitarist in a rock band called Zedi Forder, who you can check out on Spotify.
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching extensively over the past 8 years, and the last 6 years full time. Generally I teach 1-2-1, but have also undertaken group and paired lessons in the past, and can accommdoate if desirable. I also teach online, aminly through Zoom and Skype.
I teach all guitar related styles, but like to let the pupils' taste dictate. So if you're into pop, rock, metal, funk or slow acoustic ballads, it's all grand! I also teach children of all ages (the youngest being 6), and have shorter scale classical and electric guitars available for small hands!
Tutoring Approach:
So if you're a beginner who's stuck in a rut and doesn't know how to progress or understand that video you're watching on YouTube, then save yourself time and learn from someone who's been there!
Having fun whilst playing is imperative to stay motivated, so I aim to structure lessons around what you want to learn or a style you aspire to. However if you want to let me guide you, I'm more than happy to choose a path that I think will work best for you.
In general, I try to split learning into 5 sections: Technique – Repertoire – Theory – Improvisation – Composition. There's a lot of overlap between them of course, but it helps to know what you're focusing on at any given time to help put it into a wider learning context.
I can teach all RGT, RSL, Rockschool and Trinity syllabuses, which give great structure to your learning and offer you the opportunity to take graded exams.
Of course, if you just wanted to learn a few of your favorite Oasis songs on the acoustic, I'm completely cool with that too :)

Wayne's structure, content and and thoroughness of his lessons are very professional and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend anyone who wants to play a guitar, Wayne is your man!
Thanks
Darren
It’s a pleasure teaching you, hopefully it can continue for a while longer yet!
Thanks very much for your kind comment. I enjoy sharing new ideas or concepts, even more so when a student actually finds them valuable! And as you mentioned, it can be helpful to see another player's perspective on things, just to help open up some creative opportunties. Cheers!
He was friendly, patient and engaging (finding new guitar pieces to play each new lesson).
Thanks for the few lessons, Wayne!
I was initially a little skeptical, as an adult beginner with a new guitar but never played. But Wayne was able to ease me not only to get me interested in learning but also encouraging to take grading in future. Thank you for being very patient and able to help me pace up at my own speed.
Appreciate all your time.
Regards
Wayne is very patient and explains from A to Z and never minds to go back and back again. He is very talented and skilled with his guitars, he creates your own personal program to follow lesson by lesson and if you have any request to learn a song of your choice there is absolutely not a problem as nothing stops him :)
I am definitely satisfied with the choice i maid.
