Personal Description:

I am a highly experienced teacher of both guitar and Music Technology. I have played on various sessions including Channel4's 'Chart Show' (Intro music and stings). I have played on several released albums and in several bands. I am a qualified luthier having studied at Totnes School of Guitar Making.I worked for Solid State Logic for 14 years as manager of the Frame Wiring department and have installed many large format consoles in the worlds most prestigious recording studios. I love to teach and to see the progression of any one that comes to me is an experience I never get tired of.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a teacher of guitar for over 20 years, both privately and in schools, most recently at Kevicc (in Totnes). I have seen my students progress from complete beginner to solo flamenco performance level. I teach all genres and styles of guitar. As a music technology teacher I have enjoyed considerable success, twice my A level students achieved the best grades in the U.K. and were in the local press for their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

All students are different, with their own skill sets. I spend time finding a teaching approach that is tailor made to each student, whether it be establishing a sound technical basis that serves as a platform for all subsequent lessons or developing a creative writer who is looking for the skills to get their ideas recorded. I teach from my studio in the centre of Totnes which has all the equipment necessary to provide high quality recordings (which can be an excellent way to see progression) and utilise the technology to find a pathway that ensures a sense of progression. I also work in artist management and if a student has the skills and ambition to make music heir career, I can help them on that journey.
