Personal Description:

I have been playing various woodwind and Piano since a very early age. I have taken part in solo and group music activities for just as long including festivals and competitions and done several exams in different instruments, in 2004 I gained entry to the Royal Military School of Music in Twickenham. I earned five diplomas in performance and instrumental teaching before going on to University where I studied music with a specialism in Flute performance. I have performed as a concerto soloist with the Grampian Concert Orchestra and have played with other local orchestras and ensembles including the Grampian Youth Orchestra, Aberdeen University Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Viola da Gamba Consort, Recorder Consort and Flute Choir. I also play in a Flute and Harp duo for weddings and special occasions and have also played the Piano and Organ for Church services.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching woodwind to a wide range of ages since 2005 and have taught both privately at home and in various schools around Aberdeen including the International School of Aberdeen, St Margaret's School for Girls, Albyn School, the TOTAL French School and Bridge of Don Academy. I have also given recorder demonstrations in small independent schools around Aberdeenshire. Around 10 years ago I started teaching Piano as well and have had many students gain exam success.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach mostly classical but have had students learn Bluesy, Jazzy and popular music. We can learn about chord progressions and put chords together to form songs. Past and previous students have taken exams with the ABRSM and Trinity but taking exams is not compulsory. We can work on whatever music you wish and whichever genre suits your taste and will encourage you to practice! I can teach via Skype, Zoom or of course in person at my home.
