Personal Description:
I am currently based in Belfast, Northern Ireland where I work full-time as a violinist in the Ulster Orchestra. I regularly freelance with groups such as Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra & Chineke! Orchestra. I have performed in Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria, the Philharmonie in Cologne, Germany, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Germany, the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, just to name a few. Appearances in festivals include the Mito Settembre Festival in Italy, Festival Berlioz at La Côte-Saint-André in France, the BBC Proms in London, the Edinburgh International Festival, among many others.
Tutoring Experience:
I have had the privilege to teach music in several countries to a range of people with different levels. I have taught masterclasses and specialised music courses in Canada, USA, and Peru. The most touching and rewarding experiences have been teaching music as a tool for social change in Haiti, Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
I maintain a busy private in-person and online studio. Where I guide my students through individual bespoke learning, as well as ABRSM, LCM & Trinity College curricula & examinations.

My teaching style involves developing a critical approach to understanding music, and how to express it. As a flexible and patient tutor, I understand that everyone has different strengths and abilities. Whether you want to learn for fun, or are preparing for an exam or audition, I will guide you through the necessary steps and provide the tools that will set you in proximity with your goals.

Aside from being a world class violinist with a mountain of experience, he has the most welcoming and effective teaching style and it is clear that it matters to him that his student feels welcomed, understands the lessons and progresses.
Usman is an ideal tutor for beginner to elite violinist alike. He is open to meeting his students at their individual point of learning and then takes it from there.
Anyone looking to explore their musicianship further would do very well to go to Usman.
