Personal Description:
I teach electric and acoustic guitar in a range of styles including: rock, blues, indie, jazz, folk, fingerpicking, acoustic tapping and classical. I also teach bass guitar, music theory, recording and production, and can take students through classical or rock grades.
I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and have a broad experience of performance, composition, songwriting, production, recording, music theory and music technology. In 2004 I complete a degree in music at the City University London, where I was awarded a First Class, and an award for outstanding achievement in my final year.
I have since been teaching guitar both privately in students homes and in schools, whilst recording and performing as a guitarist and vocalist in groups and as a solo singer/songwriter.
Remote teaching via Zoom available.
Tutoring Experience:
10+ years instrumental teaching experience in students homes and in schools.
Music theory, technology and composition tuition also available.
Currently working for Essex Music Services.
Level 2 Child Safeguarding Trained
Current DBS available
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in developing and expanding every aspect of a student's musical knowledge and awareness through their instrument, starting immediately with practical play; incorporating reading and music theory as my student's progress. I aim to make lessons enjoyable, helping them to develop their natural interest and excitement for the instrument, so they look forward to playing, at any level, and look forward to lessons.
