Personal Description:
"Melodically Inventive", "Impressive Technique", The Times. "A New York Jazz Supremo", The London Evening Standard. I've jammed with Carlos Santana, Chaka Khan and jazz legends Ralph Towner and John Abercrombie and have played on a variety of gigs and tours playing jazz, classical, rock and pop music and bring the knowledge I've gained as a performer to the lessons I teach.
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching for Kingston Music Service for a number of years and virtually all of my classical and rock students have attained Distinctions and Merits in their exams. And some of my private students are, like me, out there gigging.
Tutoring Approach:
I emphasise the importance of reading music - as opposed to tablature - for all guitarists and also teach my students how to play in time from their first lesson onwards - an invaluable skill. I start classical students on the Guitarist's Way books and jazz and rock students on the Hal Leonard and Mel Bay books.
