Information About Tom - Aldershot teacher
This is how a referee rated Tom:
I am a professional bass player with the tech metal band No Consequence. I have been playing guitar and bass for 13 years, and studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. I teach from my flat in Ash, where I have two Line 6 PODs set up to quickly and easily make a variety of different tones to suit any play style. I can teach to suit any needs, whether you want to learn more scales and chords, and the theory behind them, or if you want to learn any popular song. I am very aware of the need for patience and the fact that it can take time and effort for someone to learn.
I have had a few students over the years and have been in several bands, so have built up a good musical vocabulary and the necessary skills to make sure I can convey a musical idea and that it has been learnt effectively. After studying at ACM I also picked up a lot of good techniques to make sure that playing techniques are learnt in the right - and in a fun - way
I understand that everyone has their own interests and abilities, and think it's good to tailor lessons according to the individual. I prefer to teach a little theory along the way to build up a good understanding of any given technique someone may be learning, but most of all think you shouldn't learn anything that you can't get some fun or satisfaction from. Setting targets just above the student's ability and planning how to achieve them is a great way of feeling the joy of learning how to do something they couldn't before, and I like to mix this with learning songs that they enjoy listening to that are within the student's abilities. I think this way keeps learning fun, which makes it more likely that someone will progress.
