Personal Description:
I was born in Hertfordshire and began learning the violin at the age of 3 via the Suzuki method. My undergraduate studies took place at Trinity College of Music, studying violin with Nona Liddell MBE and viola with Richard Crabtree.
In 2005 I completed my postgraduate studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire with professor Ofer Falk. Whilst at Trinity my quartet were awarded the John Barbirolli prize for String Quartet, and I have received masterclasses and coaching from the Brodsky and Wihan Quartets.
As a chamber musician and soloist, Tim has given recitals in venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin In the Fields, and Burgh House, Hampstead. HIs string quartet can often be heard in recitals at various venues around London and the South East. Tim is also in demand as a freelance orchestral player, playing regularly with numerous orchestras in London and around the UK.

Tutoring Approach:
I am very devoted to teaching, having 25 years of experience tutoring a wide range of ages and abilities, from young children to adults and from beginners to advanced players. My approach is one of flexibility, taking into account the aims and abilities of each individual and tailoring lessons to suit the student's needs, whether they are preparing for exams, performances or just playing as a hobby. I always strive to make lessons an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
I can prepare students for both ABRSM and Trinity College graded exams and also offer music theory coaching for students needing to take the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam or those studying for GCSE or `A`Level Music.
I also teach improvisation techniques as a doorway into exploring creative playing outside of the traditional classical method of studying. This is integrated into the firm technical foundation of my mainly classical training and can help give learners another dimension to their playing which can enrich and enliven their approach to whatever kind of repertoire they are studying.
I am always eager to share my experience and knowledge to students looking for direction in pursuing a future career in music. Being a performer and teacher has been a positive experience and opened many doors. I want to continue to spread this positivity by sharing my experiences and love of music with my students.
