Personal Description:

I am a highly experienced and friendly instrumental music tutor specializing in string instruments, guitar, keyboards and composition. In addition to music teaching, I am a regular performer on the violin, specializing in folk music performance, and I compose Orchestral music which is performed annually by the Oxford Proms Orchestra. My musical interests span all music genres and styles (especially classical and traditional music) and I am also a passionate advocate of music in the special needs community, the Arts, music for film, History and Literature.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience over the last 30 years has spanned across work in Primary and secondary schools for several County music services including Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, and Coventry, and many Private schools in those areas e.g. Headington school Oxford, the Arnold Lodge school Leamington Spa, and Dixie Grammar school in Leicestershire. I am fully equipped and prepared to deliver real time lessons from my home studio or virtual tutoring via Skype or Zoom sessions.

Tutoring Approach:

M approach to music tuition is friendly and relaxed to create a positive working atmosphere. I have successfully entered examination pupils from initial standard to post grade 8 levels using both the A.B.R.S.M. and Trinity board pieces, and am always ready to work my students hard in order to achieve excellent results, but equally comfortable teaching for purely recreational purposes where personal fulfilment, playing creativity and improvisation are at the forefront of the learning process.
